APPLETON — Eventually, the 2012 WIAA Division 2 boys’ soccer state championship trophy will be on display at Xavier High School in Appleton. The Hawks captured the title with a 3-0 victory over Mount Horeb on Oct. 27 at Uihlein Soccer Park in Milwaukee. The trophy will make the rounds before settling into its new home. Taking a page out of the Stanley Cup tradition, each player will get to spend some time with the championship hardware. In addition to some good photo opportunities with the trophy, senior defender Seth Maertz is looking forward to the team joining the Xavier wall of champions.
